My Face Is on Fire is a blog (with an associated podcast) which focuses on abolitionist vegan education, animal rights issues and the misrepresentation of veganism in pop culture or mainstream media.
To me it was always a sacrifice. And I only respect those who do it as a sacrifice. Sacrifice is a badge of respect. Joy means you acted with no thought involved - it is purely on the instinct level and for your own pleasure. And joy can change when you are fed up and seek joy elsewhere. To hell with joy!
I think you're missing the point. What Gary was trying to say is that if you take other animals' rights and interests seriously that going vegan isn't hard and that once you do, it's a joy to know that you're no longer part of the cycle of animal exploitation.
