On Biting One's Tongue

Something one should always keep in mind when given the opportunity to fence-sit:

We must always take sides. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented.

- Elie Wiesel, Nobel Acceptance Speech (December 10, 1986)

All too often I keep my mouth shut for the simple fact that I get sick of arguing. Sometimes I think I should open my mouth more often, though, because I tend to be the butt of everyone's veg jokes. A quote like from Elie Wiesel is enough to make me start making a stand again.
